Physik/Garden/Woods
(selected works)
In this series, I am creating images that continue my long inquiry into spaces in flux—a practice and a set of concerns heightened in the context of climate crisis and lack of care for the land. Using collage, painting, and plant materials in dialogue with photographs I’ve taken both in uncultivated wildness and at botanical, medicinal, and community gardens, I work continually with color to build layers of space and possibility. With this hybrid process, I am inviting the viewer into a queered perceptual experience of both the precarity and the joy of the world we inhabit. Color for me is itself animate, as well as in complex conversation with the histories of botany, medicine, human violence, and the pursuit of beauty.
